Non-personality (or selflessness) is also the key issue in baroque music. Those [middle-aged white males mostly, it seems] who love to bash Hilary Hahn can't see how that is exactly what sets her aside from the other rather baroque-inept, because too much involved with themselves and "expression" and stuff, Romantic oriented musicians. When Hilary starts playing she instantly ceases to exist as a person. I wonder whether this is a skill that can be taught, I somehow doubt so.
